Pope's in-house preacher warns Roman Curia against dogmatism

The papal preacher, Cardinal Raniero Cantalamessa, has warned the members of the Roman Curia against dogmatism and called on them to be more open-minded.

Contradiction can sometimes be beneficial, he said on Friday during a Lenten sermon in the Vatican Audience Hall, according to the "Vatican News" portal.

He invited people to put up with other people and opinions, even if they get on your nerves.

This is important - not least for the Curia, which is a community of service and church work.

The Capuchin priest also spoke about the role of the media.

When they point out grievances in society and the Church, they deserve respect.

However, the press does not fulfil its mission if it turns against someone just because they do not "belong to its own side".
