The Albanian Orthodox Church expressed its own position concerning the marriage between same-sex couples.
In particular, the Church stated that the perpetuation of humanity had been based on two sexes and their union.
It is stated: “No culture, religion or law system (like those of Solon, Plato, etc.) institutionalized homosexual cohabitation as marriage. Unnaturalness cannot be made natural by legal provisions. On the contrary, such a law offends creation.”

Regarding the recognition of homosexual cohabitation as marriage by law, the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania states:
It is well known that the perpetuation of humanity has been based on two sexes and their union.
No culture, religion or law system (like those of Solon, Plato, etc.) institutionalized homosexual cohabitation as marriage. Unnaturalness cannot be made natural by legal provisions. On the contrary, such a law offends creation.
It is not a societal advancement but rather a clash with the natural order, viewed as a decline. The Church is obliged to clearly articulate the meaning and uphold the value of marriage, stress the importance of the family and childbearing in accordance with its sacred texts and its centuries-old tradition (as stated at the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church in Crete in 2016).
